Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American TV reporter, journalist and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell joined KYW Radio and TV as an Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. In 1976, she joined CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). After two years, she was hired by NBC News as a Washington correspondent. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was appointed chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was named as the head White House correspondent by NBC News, in 1992. Mitchell hosted and participated as panelists on the TV show Meet the Press. She was a member of a panel for the 1988 presidential debates featuring George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was presented with the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in the field of journalism. In 2004, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began reporting on in the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. Her coverage included a variety of significant stories, including the Iran-Contra controversy, budget and tax reform in addition to the arms control. Mitchell traveled extensively along with the president Reagan during summits together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
